Wunderrūma, the contemporary jewellery show curated by Warwick Freeman and Karl Fritsch is coming to Auckland Art Gallery July 18 - November 2015. It started its world tour at Galerie Handwerk in Munich during Schmuck week in March 2014, followed by The Dowse Art Museum in Lower Hutt NZ June - September 2014.
This is a survey show including ancient Maori Taonga (pre and post contact), Pacific adornment and contemporary work from over 80 artists discovered when the curators went on a 'fishing trip' around Aotearoa New Zealand. Now in its third iteration, Warwick and Karl have gone hunting for jewelleryness in the Auckland Art Gallery archives and have added new works to the exhibition from the galleries' collection.
